Countdown to the Toughest Race in the Canary Islands

The Gran Canaria Backyard Ultra 2025, which will take place on 10 and 11 October in the municipality of Ingenio, is entering the final stage of its registration period.
7 September has been set as the official registration deadline, although registration may close earlier if the maximum number of participants is reached before then.
“Demand has been very high and, at the current pace, we cannot rule out closing registration before 7 September. Anyone who wants to experience this unique event in the Canary Islands should secure their place as soon as possible.”
As part of the preparation for the event, two daytime training sessions and one night training session have already taken place with strong participation, giving runners the opportunity to test both their strategy and endurance.
The experience will be repeated on 7 September, offering the perfect opportunity to fine-tune pacing, kilometre management and time control — key factors in this unique race format.
La prueba, primera edición oficial en Canarias, forma parte del circuito internacional Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra y propone un formato tan exigente como emocionante: recorrer 6,7 km cada hora, saliendo siempre a la hora en punto, hasta que solo quede El Último o La Última Puntal.
Este evento ofrecerá cuatro modalidades para adaptarse a distintos niveles y objetivos:
- Ultra: formato clásico Backyard, Limitada a 28 vueltas o hasta que quede un solo participante.
- Maratón: 7 vueltas (46,9 km).
- Media Maratón: 3 vueltas (20,1 km).
- Inclusiva: 3 vuelta, abierta a participantes con diversidad funcional que quieran vivir la experiencia en un formato accesible.
In the Ultra category, participants will also be able to compete as a pair, with men’s, women’s and mixed categories, offering the chance to share both the strategy and the challenge.
