Why “The last Puntal”?

In the Canary Islands, the word Puntal has a special meaning.

In Lucha Canaria (Canarian Wrestling), a Puntal represents one of the highest sporting categories. But its meaning goes far beyond that: it embodies strength, technique, endurance, and the values of respect and honour that are deeply rooted in our traditional sport.

The PROVITAL Backyard Ultra – Gran Canaria embraces this concept to recognise the person who goes the farthest when the laps, the hours and fatigue begin to decide the race.

The one who remains.
The one who goes out again.
The one who completes that final lap.

THE LAS PUNTAL.

A name that connects the roots of the Canary Islands with the essence of Backyard Ultra: enduring when no one else remains, because being a Puntal is about much more than winning: it is about enduring, inspiring and going out for one more lap.
