Every Loop Leaves Its Mark: PROVITAL Backyard Ultra – Gran Canaria Recognises Every Way of Fighting On
6 days ago · Updated 6 days ago

Some efforts deserve to be recognised. Not only for going further, but for enduring, supporting others, pushing beyond limits and choosing to head out for one more loop.
The PROVITAL Backyard Ultra – Gran Canaria continues to shape its 2027 edition around one very clear idea: in a Backyard, there is far more than just a ranking. Behind every loop there are stories of consistency, camaraderie, personal achievement and effort that form part of the very essence of this event.
That is why the different race formats — Ultra, Challenge, Fun Run and Inclusive — will each have their own recognitions, adapted to the way every participant chooses to face their challenge.
ULTRA: enduring until only one remains
The Ultra format preserves the original essence of a Backyard: 6.706 kilometres every hour and a new start each time the bell rings.
The highest honour will go to El Último Puntal or La Última Puntal, the only person able to complete a valid loop alone once everyone else is no longer able to continue.
But the Ultra also recognises other stories that are part of the race. The Assist, the Espíritu de Brega, and those who reach 24 loops and join the 100-Mile Club will all have their own place in an edition where every hour can become a new chapter.
Because going far matters. But how you get there matters too.
CHALLENGE: seven loops where every second counts
The Challenge consists of 7 loops and 46.9 kilometres under the same Backyard format.
Seven starts, seven rings of the bell, and a ranking determined by the lowest total accumulated time among those who complete all seven loops.
There is no single decisive loop here: every loop counts. Consistency, strategy and the ability to maintain your pace throughout the entire event will be crucial.
FUN RUN: four loops to experience a true Backyard
The Fun Run brings the Backyard experience to participants through 4 loops and 26.8 kilometres.
Four starts. Four rings of the bell. Four opportunities to discover what it means to return to the starting corral again and again.
For those who want to compete, the challenge is also clear: complete all four loops with the lowest total accumulated time.
A different distance, but the same bell and the same spirit.
INCLUSIVE: you set the challenge
The Inclusive category represents another of the defining features of the PROVITAL Backyard Ultra – Gran Canaria.
There is no required number of loops.
Your challenge. Your loops.
Each participant can decide how far they want to go, with the support they need to experience the Backyard format and receiving a recognition for their participation.
Because overcoming a challenge does not mean the same thing to everyone. And that is precisely what gives it value.
Much more than kilometres
A Backyard measures distance, loops and time. But there are things no stopwatch can measure.
The decision to head out again when your body is telling you to stop. The support of someone who stays by your side for hours. The emotion of surpassing a distance that once seemed impossible. Or simply the pride of taking on a challenge of your own.
At the PROVITAL Backyard Ultra – Gran Canaria, we want all of those stories to have their place.
Ultra · Challenge · Fun Run · Inclusive.
Four ways to face the bell.
Four ways to leave your mark.
💛💙 Here, we fight on. And here, we recognise it.
Every loop leaves its mark.
